HOW TO CLEAN A CAMEL-COLORED LEATHER HANDBAG

To big problems, easy solutions. Crisitina, the woman with more tips I know to restore handbgs, recommended me recently how to clean a Chanel camel colored quite deteriorated.
In leather handbags, whe colored the over time reflects more, this tip will be useful for our leather handbags of this colour, doesn´t matter if is Chanel, Dior or another vintage that we can have.
We are talking about dirt spots due to regular use, not about the grease stains that we´ll talk about them separately.
The good thing about the handbags of the menioned brands, Loewe, Gucci, Prada, Botteg Veneta o YSL is that they use the best leather and have grateful cleaning.
Here we have some tips:
1) Buy humid wipes, the ones we use to clean babies and the most neutrals, without excess of soap and additives, choose the ones taht says soft´.
2) As with any other product for the skin, doesn´t matter if is our skin or the handbag´s leather, it´s better to try it first in a inconspicuous place, so we´ll be able to see that nothing wrong happens. Once done this, we´ll wait a few minutes to see the results, because the humidity of the wipes at the begininig is a bit baffling and we can think that we have damaged our Chanel 2.55 vintage.
In a short period of time, we´ll see that everything is all right and nothing happened, the leather returns normal but cleaner. If it doesn´t happen, we must abandon the operation. The normal result is the one that we´ve indicated.
3) Once we have checked all this, we have to take a clean baby wipe and pass it where the handbag is dirty, once the wie gets dirty we have to turn the wipe to the othe side, this is very important to clean our vintage handbags.
4) When our wonderful handbag Chanel, Dior or the one we have decided to clean is dry, we can put some moisturizing milk that we recommended in our last post.
You will be surprised of the results.

A KARL LAGERFELD VINTAGE HANDKERCHIEF

Karl Lagerfeld was one of the designers that became famous very young, was competitor of Yves Saint Laurent in diferent contests. Both worked in important french brands, Lagerfeld in Balmain and Saint Laurent in Dior.
This parallelism jointed both, also working with important brands, they became independent creators. lagerfeld has worked with Chloe, Fendi and Chanel. Less wellknown is his work in Loewe where he collaborated.
One of the big contributions to Chanel, was his review of Chanel 2.55 handbag, he returned some of the originals elements to it, as the chain without leather and the closure mademoiselle.
In the eighties, he created his own fashion line and from this age is the neckerchief that we present and that we have in oh vintage shop collection. It has bright colours and gay drawings, combines perfectly with any look.
It´s measures are 90 cm x 90 cm and we can use it as any other carrè.

Bases de maquillaje
By ohvintage in BeautyHoy hablaremos de algo que utilizamos habitualmente las “bases de maquillaje” Cada casa tiene un montón donde elegir, y tendréis que elegir dependiendo de vuestro tipo de piel, aunque yo os aconsejo que independientemente de la que se elija, optéis con alguna con protección solar, incluso existen cremas de color que no son exactamente bases de maquillaje, como la de Avène con un factor de protección de 50, que van muy bien, cuando se pretende un maquillaje ligero y de calle, pues además aporta un plus de protección solar. 
Para las pieles más jóvenes tendremos que elegir un maquillaje ligero, incluso algo astringente si se tiene la piel grasa -bastante propio de los jóvenes- como las de MAX FACTOR O L’OREAL, que además son de las más asequibles. A este tipo de piel le recomiendo utilizar además “Invisible Powder” de “KIKO” -Polvos fijadores antibrillos transparentes, y para repasar y quitar brillos unas toallitas también de “KIKO” que se pueden utilizar a lo largo del dia. Para las pieles más maduras yo elegiría una marca que es asequible, como es KIKO, y tienen un maquillaje el “3D lifting foundation”. En esta misma linea me gusta el de Vichy “Liftactiv flesilift teint” que asegura ser antiarrugas -bueno esto no lo puedo afirmar- pero cubre bastante bien y queda una piel suficientemente hidratada. 
Pero sin duda para mí la estrella de esta gama es el “Capture total” de DIOR, si, si, ya sé que es más caro, pero os aseguro que merece la pena, probadlo.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF VINTAGES HANDBAGS
By ohvintage in RecomendacionesWe are going to try to give some tips for succesful maintenance of vintage handbangs. They will be useful for other type of handbangs too, but vintage due to its age, sometimes need restauration and lot of maintenance.
We start with louis Vuitton vintage, in special the monogram, that is combined with leather, when you buy it, has a light colour, almost rose, but unfortunately this material gets very dirty easily, even with water. If it rains they can get be marked.
Only with pass of the years will help to get the same colour, but is not possible that some spots dissapair, people who love this handbags accept it.
Anyway I give some tips for maintenance of these handbags:
1) Use a drained cloth simply with with water and a little of diluted soap all around the handbag, except leather parts. If the clothe gets dirty, we have to rinse it in water and repit it. To end with we will pass the very drained clothe only with water. We don´t have to forget about the inside too.
2) We use the clothe again over the leather parts of our louis Vuitton monogram, always very drained, if the clothe gets dirty we need to rinse it again.
3)When the leather of the Louis Vuitton wont have humidity, we put some moisturizing cleanser, only in the leather. The rest has enough with the cloth.
4) Polish with a cotton clothe the leather part. Another problem we can find in Louis Vuitton vintage is that some of the leather stitching of the handle can come out, I give a tip provided by my craft that works in fashion.
Insert a needle through the hole that has the threas loose. Once it has passed the point threading the needle with double thread. Enter the loose thread between the threads that have been threaded. We have to obtain catch and pull the needle into down. This must be done by removing a short needle, as the thread end of the handle is usually short, this is the only way to reintrouce it in place.
From leather of Louis Vuitton is not easy to remove stains of time ago, doesn´t mind if are from water or another thing, but with this technic gets much better. In my opinion we never must dye the handbag to try to hide the stains, is better dirty that dyed. The firstis like a natural woman, the second seems fake.

Las pre-bases de maquillaje
By ohvintage in BeautyHoy voy a daros unos sencillos consejos sobre las pre-bases. ¿Queréis saber qué son?
Las pre-bases: Son acondicionadores de la piel y como su nombre indica se aplican antes de la base de maquillaje, pero por supuesto después de una buena hidratante -de las que ya hablaremos en otro post-. Las hay de muy distintos tipos:
-con sérum para iluminar, suavizar, reafirmar e hidratar la piel, aportarle un aspecto jugoso y un tono igualado, como el “prep+prime skin brightening serum” de MAC,
-con color que ilumina, neutraliza, unifica el tono y calma la tez roja, como el “prep + prime fortified skin enhancer” también de MAC,
-o sin color pero con siliconas que prepara la piel para el maquillaje. Todas ellas permiten una mejor aplicación, acabado y duración del maquillaje. En términos generales se crea una capa protectora sobre la piel permitiendo que la base pueda deslizarse con facilidad y dure más. Una de las que más me gusta es el “High Definition Primer de Make up for ever”, en sus distintas tonalidades:
-Prebase verde: Se usa si la piel tiene grandes zonas rojas tipo couperosis para contrarrestar ese color. Hay que difuminar muy bien como casi siempre con todos los cosméticos.
-Prebase rosa- salmón: Se usa cuando la piel tiene un color oliváceo o cetrino, y aporta muy buen aspecto al contrarrestar el color verdoso de estas pieles.
-Prebase amarilla: Indicada para pieles oscuras con tendencia violácea. También sirve para machas oscuras.
-Prebase malva-violeta: Va genial para pieles muy claras y con tendencias amarillentas. Aporta la luminosidad de la que carecen estas pieles. Sephora también tiene un “primer” aceptable, aunque yo me quedaría con el primero. De todas formas, casi todas las marcas tienen alguna. Es cuestión de ir probando y adaptarlo a tu tipo de piel, pero por mi experiencia os diré que en cuanto a relación calidad-precio las de “Make up for ever” son de las mejores.
